Snipers Only! - A Marathon Network Map by Patrick Gray
                           Release Version 2.0 (r2)
                                    Map Version 3.4

Note - This document looks best when displayed with SimpleText.

Hey everyone! This is the second (and final) release version of my first network map, Snipers Only! This version has been tweaked since the last version, incorporating a number of changes and additions:

	1.	The gameplay is a bit more streamlined which translates into a faster game.
	2.	There are brand new lighting effects that as of yet I've never seen in ANY Marathon Map (I could be
mistaken though). As you'll see when you play, when you open a door that leads into a room with bright
lights, the light will shine through the door, illuminating an area as long as the door is open. I've tried
very hard to make it as realistic as possible.
	3.	The number of enemies has been toned down just a bit to make the competition between human players more
				dramatic.
	4.	All of the textures are now lined up exactly where I want them, so if you think you see any discrepancies, I
probably meant to do it for some reason.
	5.	There are two brand-new hard-to-find places to make some great sniper shots from (which are very
sneaky places to hide as well)!

Note - If you have any trouble finding any of the secret areas, just look at the map in a map editor to find
where they are. If you still can't find them, just email and I'll tell you where to find them!

Some Basic Information About Snipers Only!

This map was created with Pfhorte 1.0d5-d13, Mia 0.8-1.0b17, MME 1.0d6a-d7, OPE 1.3, and I placed the map in the full map file using NK1.0a2. Great work on all the editors guys! Also, as of this writing, this map has been successfully tested on the following machines: PM7100, PM6100AV, Quadra 840AV, Centris 660AV, Centris 650, LCIII, IIcx, and IIsi.

The map has 8 entry points, and I would recommend playing it with 3 or more players, although 5-8 would be the ideal number. Also, I would highly recommend an '040 or better if you want any kind of playability. I developed this map on a 33 mhz '030, and I was getting framerates in the 6's because of the large rooms (3 main ones). I've included an average number of aliens, maybe something like Mars Needs Women, so if you're playing with more than 3 people, I would set the difficulty to Normal so you can concentrate more on the human opponents instead of the alien ones. Another thing, if this map fails, try restarting without extensions. I've found that this works in many cases with the maps i've downloaded from the net. If it still doesn't work, send me some mail describing the problem.

In creating this map, I tried to combine good sniper play, close proximity battles, and open arena battles for one killer experience. The main concept of the map is actually quite simple, utilizing only 5 main areas (Sniper Central, The Pressure Cooker, A Sniper's Dream, The Fork, and The Great Escape). There are, however, five secrets in this map, and one super-secret area where you can activate the ultimate weapon (it will be obvious when you hit the map modifier while playing). There are two light switches, one of them secret, and a boatload of places to hide and make some killer sniper-shots. Do me a favor though, if you've found where the super-secret weapon is, don't blab to your friends about it. It's always more fun when you have an advantage as distinct as this one. You'll be able to use it once, maybe twice, before your friends figure out what's happening. Anyway, have fun and happy Marathoning!

If you record any films you think I might like to see, send them to me by E-Mail! I'd love to see how others play on my map. Who knows, maybe you can show me some great tactics that I haven't discovered yet! E-Mail them to the address below.
